Research STEM Sign-Up
STEM Research is a course in which students complete an independent science research project at school and enter the Synopsys Competition. You can apply for this course at the STEM Research Application.
Branding Seminar to Benefit ALS
On March 18 (Saturday) from 10-12:30 PM in the MVHS Cafeteria, join best-selling author Karen Kang at the Branding Pays Seminar, a fundraiser for ALS Therapy Development Institute developed in collaboration with Fremont Union High School District. Blue Ribbon School
Monta Vista has been named a National Blue Ribbon School. Only three high schools in the state of California were awarded this honor in 2014. AP Exams - Registration
AP Exam season is nearly upon us. Parents of students enrolled in AP classes at MVHS were emailed the 2017 AP Student and Parent Letter and Bulletin for AP Students and Parents. These explain our registration process and the expectations set forth by the College Board. If you have questions, please contact Michelle Pedone (AP Test Coordinator) at 408-366-7605 or Nico Flores (Assistant Principal) at 408-366-7609.

Please register at ASB for the AP Exam between January 30 and February 28. Registration will not be available after February 28. Monta Vista will post locations and times of the exams after registration is complete.
Wellness Taskforce: March 2nd
Please join FUHSD’s Community Taskforce on Student Wellness for a Community Forum, March 2

The Community Taskforce on Student Wellness is currently reviewing aspects of student wellness that could result in changes in our schools such as a later school start time, demands on student time outside the school day, and how aspects of mental health are addressed. You are cordially invited by Superintendent Polly Bove to attend a community forum on March 2 which will include an informational presentation and an opportunity for the community to ask questions, share concerns and make suggestions. Spring Parenting Classes
Looking to better understand your teen and improve your parent-child relationship? Mr. Prinz and Ms. Chi are teaching Parenting Classes over several evenings in March and April. Communication and listening, parenting style, helping build responsibility, and similar topics will be explored. For more information about the classes, see the Parenting Class page.
Spring Standardized Testing is Coming
Each Spring about half of students participate in Standardized Testing. This year, testing will be from March 27 to 31. A schedule is posted here and on the Bell Schedule page. Further details will be provided to students, staff, and parents as the event approaches.
College Planning and Essay Workshops
Attention Juniors! Are you ready to get started in developing a list of colleges you will apply to next fall? Sign up for the College Planning Workshops offered by FUHSD in partnership with the City of Cupertino! You should have received an email and a School Loop message with the registration materials, but if you have any questions or need an additional copy, please see your guidance counselor or look on the main page of the district website. Make sure to register by Tuesday, February 14, at the Quinlan Community Center in Cupertino – these popular classes WILL SELL OUT!

Challenge Day: March 23
Come broaden your perspectives at Challenge Day, March 23, 2017. Challenge Days are powerful, high-energy programs in which youth and adult participants are guided through a series of experiential learning processes. The overall goals of the program are to increase personal power and self-esteem, to shift dangerous peer pressure to positive peer support and to eliminate the acceptability of teasing, violence and all forms of oppression. NCWIT Winners Announced!
Congratulations to Ruoyun Zheng, Sanjana Shah, Ankita Mitra, and Elizabeth Wang, who all won awards from National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) for their annual Aspirations in Computing Competition. Sanjana will be one of 50 young women who will receive a National Award from NCWIT in North Carolina on March 3rd. Congratulations young ladies!
Siemens Finalists Announced!
Congratulations to all students who competed in this year's Siemens Competition. Shivani Sundaram is a regional semi-finalist - great job! Nikhil and Anika Cheerla are Siemens National Finalists in the 2016 Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology. Way to go!
Newsweek Top 500 Schools - #16
Newsweek has published a list of the top 500 high schools in 2016. MV is ranked at #16 based upon a formula which includes graduation rates, college enrollment rates, AP/ACT/SAT participation and scores, and the number of counselors at a school. Way to go, Mats!
