Boys varsity volleyball coach Paul Chiu earned his 200th career win last night, sweeping Los Altos 3-0. His team presented him with a signed gold volleyball at the end of the match. Thank you, Coach Chiu!

Blue Ribbon School
Monta Vista has been named a National Blue Ribbon School. Only three high schools in the state of California were awarded this honor in 2014. Art Show: April 10 - May 12
Come explore the wide range of art products made across our school district at FUHSD's annual Art Show. The show will be at the district office at 589 W. Fremont Avenue, Sunnyvale, from April 10 to May 12. View work from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM on weekdays. An artist's reception will be on May 2nd from 3:30 to 4:30 PM. This event is open to the public.
Earth Deconstructed: May 18
Join us for Earth Deconstructed, on May 18 at the San Jose Tech Museum. During this creative, informative and one-of-a-kind multidisciplinary event, nearly 500 attendees and legions of Monta Vista students will combine the fields of art, drama, orchestra, journalism, modern language, language arts, multimedia design, science and social studies to bring attention and advocacy to climate change. This event is centered around the documentary, "Before the Flood" and is hosted by The Tech Museum in San Jose. During the program a panel of distinguished NASA scientists, policy makers, city leaders and environmentalists will field questions from journalism students to inform the community about various issues related to climate change. In addition, there will be over 50 student presentations in the form of artwork, poster presentations, multimedia packages, musical performances and drama.

Want to learn a new skill and enjoy interacting with the a Casino Dealer, Security Guard, run Carnival Games or Activities, serve Food, redeem Prizes, check kids in or there are lots of areas to supervise on June 2nd. Helpers also needed to help decorate the campus the week before the party, May 26th-June 2nd. THIS PARTY CANNOT HAPPEN WITHOUT ADULTS LIKE YOU! Color Guard Champions!
Monta Vista Color Guard earned 1st place in their division at their championships, making them California Color Guard Circuit Champions! This is amazing, as this is Color Guard's first year competing. Congratulations to the whole Color Guard team!

Shah Duo designs Snow Removal Tool
Sanjana Shah and Aditya Shah have developed an IoT snow removal system called Brilliantile. Aditya and Sanjana are Conrad Spirit of Innovation Challenge finalists for the 2017 Innovation Summit. Both innovators are being recognized at the Kennedy Space Center in Orlando, Florida, in April, and are being offered the chance to collaborate with the NASA Goddard team to further develop their technology.
Newsweek Top 500 Schools - #16
Newsweek has published a list of the top 500 high schools in 2016. MV is ranked at #16 based upon a formula which includes graduation rates, college enrollment rates, AP/ACT/SAT participation and scores, and the number of counselors at a school. Way to go, Mats!
